A small private Swiss brewery came up with a great idea to get rid of their stash. “The more Facebook fans we have on our page, the cheaper you can buy our beer”.
The small Swiss brewery “Striker Beer” came up with a great idea to get rid of their stock. The more Facebook fans, the cheaper the beer. The “tray” (24 x 0,5l) was offered at a price of 8 CHF (7$) for 1000 fans. With 2000 fans the price would drop to 6 CHF, and with 5’000 fans they wanted 4 CHF for a tray. At 10’000 fans it would have cost only 2 CHF and with 20’000 they would have given it away for free.
They never got to the “giving away for free” phase, since the 75’000 spare cans were sold in a couple of days. The Facebook page made over 7’000 fans in only two weeks and people were going crazy. Cars were loaded to the max, 16 year olds (in Switzerland the drinking age for beer is 16 – but driving age is 18) showed up with suitcases and some even came with their own trucks. The last 25’000 cans were sold in one morning and the Striker Beer managers had to stop people from coming to the warehouse.
Additionally to the great idea, the Striker dudes opened up their Facebook page for anyone to post pictures or videos. Several people posted their own “Striker”-story and the Facebook page is now loaded with great pictures of people drinking “Striker” beer.
Great idea and great response from the Facebook fans. Two thumbs up!
